You might not know it looking at Mellor’s work, but two themes dominate this year’s collection: all works are painting-based and all relate to the theme of landscape. But don’t expect rolling hills and watercolours.

“No one would ever expect Primavera to do landscapes because it’s about young, cutting edge, emerging artists,” says guest curator Felicity Fenner. “But it’s a contemporary take on landscape – a lot of the work responds to a lot of political and environmental issues arising from the land.”
