'Shoebox' represents my own interest in indigenous art and issues - pushed and prodded into existence through a chance encounter that provided access to many of the recognised aboriginal artists of Central Australia, as well as a similarly 'serendipitous' introduction to an inspiring arts-focused community program at Mt Theo.
Shoebox gallery is based on some simple principles:
- Fair and ethical dealings with the artists
- A 'no-frills' and 'no-hype' approach to the sale of artworks-providing excellent value
- Support for the indigenous community-10% of all sales are contributed to a community program working with young indigenous women at Mt Theo in Central Australia.
