Please note the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has instituted proceedings in the Federal Court, Brisbane, against the operators of Doongal Aboriginal Art and Artefacts.

Mr Farzad Nooravi and Mrs Homa Nooravi operate Doongal in partnership. Doongal is an unincorporated business registered in Queensland.

Doongal operates two art galleries in Kuranda and an art gallery in Cairns. Until recently it also operated a website at www.doongal.com.au.

The ACCC alleges Mr and Mrs Nooravi misrepresented that three of the artists whose works Doongal promoted and sold were of Australian Aboriginal descent when in fact those artists are not of Aboriginal descent. The artists are Mr Stephen McLean (who uses the tribal name 'Duk Duk'), Mr Paul Whiteman (who uses the tribal name 'Kulangu Balanda') and Ms Diane Sharp.

Aboriginal Art Doongal was created in 1993 with the support of five Aboriginal artists and now Doongal is a showcase of more than 20 local Aboriginal artists.

Aboriginal Art Doongal prides itself in having the finest collection of authentic Aboriginal. Doongal has the World's largest and best collection of locally made didgeridoos, paintings, boomerangs, emu eggs and other artefacts.

We also have a collection of investment paintings from Central Australia of well-known artists including Jeannie Petyarre, Gracie Morton Ngale, Charlie Tjapangati and many others, whose works are sought after by Worldwide collectors and galleries.

Visit our online store to view our wide selection of didgeridoos, boomerangs, paintings and other Aboriginal artefacts.

At Doongal we encourage people to "have a go" at playing the didgeridoo. A beginners lesson is offered to interested persons. A free "How to Play CD" is given away with the purchase of a didgeridoo (valued at $30). All didgeridoos painted by local Kuranda Aboriginal artists also come with an artist profile and Dreamtime story relating to the artwork. If artwork is not your style we also have a large and diverse collection of plain didgeridoos including those with a matt or glossy finish.
