Mungabareena Ngan-Girra Festival Information:
Mungabareena Ngan-Girra Festival
Mungabareena Reserve
Riverina Highway
Albury NSW 2640
Date: November
Phone: 02 6025 9432
Traditionally each year the Indigenous
people of southern New South Wales and
northern Victoria meet at Mungabareena
to perform ceremonies, exchange goods
and discuss tribal lore. In the past they
would then travel to the high country to
feast on Bogong Moths.
Today the festival is a living cultural show
that explores the richness of traditional
and contemporary Indigenous cultures.
It includes cultural performances from
singers and dancers, as well as boomerang
and spear throwing, the preparation of
bush tucker and various Indigenous stalls
and displays.
