The Art Centre is situated in the township of Alice Springs and has been established to provide a place for Western Arunda Artists to come together to paint, share and learn new techniques and ideas.

We are a newly established art centre funded by the Ngurratjuta Aboriginal Corporation to preserve the 'Hermansburg school of Art' including the works of Albert Namatjira and his descendants.

We have many water colour artists and tradition dot painters living in the Alice Springs area. Our aim is to create not only a place where artists can gather and socialize but also pass on cultural knowledge with an emphasis on encouraging young artists to explore their talent. We are very keen to establish a strong following of water colour artists to increase interest in this medium, both from the artists themselves and also the discerning public. Marilyn Armstrong who is one of our prominent artists and also a Ngurratjuta board member says of the art centre: It's a place where we can sit and talk together about the dream time and learn from each other.

This centre produces a range of paintings (acrylic on canvas) and works on paper (linocuts, gouache and watercolours). The centre provides a place for western Arrernte artists to come together to paint, share ideas and learn new techniques. It is open Monday.
