In conjunction with the opening of the landmark retrospective exhibition Utopia - The Genius of Emily Kngwarreye at the National Art Centre in Tokyo, Japan, Coo-ee Aboriginal Art Gallery, Sydney will present the exhibition Emily Kngwarreye and her Legacy at Art Front Gallery, Hillside Terrace, Shibuya, Tokyo from the 28th of May to the 13th of June 2008.

In addition to Emily Kngwarreye's magnificent paintings Coo-ee Aboriginal Art Gallery is proud to present to Japanese art lovers and our international clients an exhibition of fine contemporary paintings by the most important of her successors. Artists included are Gloria and Kathleen Petyarre, Abie Loy Kemarre, and the Ngal sisters, Kathleen, Poly and Angelina.

These artists present, in dotted mosaic and subtle shifts of colour, sophisticated representations of the flora and the geographical sites throughout their country. The exhibition celebrates the creative genius of Eastern Desert women and marks the 20th anniversary of the Utopia painting movement.

Opening: Wednesday 28 May to Friday 13 June 2008
