Gallery Advertising Packages FAQ

About the Aboriginal Art Directory

Q: How will people browsing for Aboriginal art find my artworks?

There are many ways our users will find your gallery details and the artworks that you upload onto the site. To start with, these images are actually displayed on 3 websites:

The Aboriginal Art Directory www.aboriginalartdirectory.com
The Aboriginal Art News www.aboriginalartnews.com.au
The Aboriginal Art Coop Gallery www.aboriginalartcoop.com.au

And in total of 10 different locations:

On the Aboriginal Art Directory:

  • Your Vendor Listing
  • The Artist Listing
  • Search Results
  • Artist Slideshow

On Aboriginal Art News:

  • Artist Listing
  • Search Results

On the Aboriginal Art Coop Gallery:

  • Artwork
  • Vendor Gallery and Slideshow
  • Artist Gallery and Slideshow
  • Recent Artworks

Also, you can tag your artworks with phrases like ‘western desert’, utopia, yam dreaming, and the more tags you use the more pages your artwork is displayed on. It is quite possible to have your artwork on over 20 pages across three websites.

Q: What if my gallery or the artists aren't well known – how do they find them then?

A number of the above locations are galleries and news resources, and this is where our audience browses through artworks and news items, so they can find new artists and new art retailers.

The other major factor to consider is how browsers are currently finding your website and artworks. Through the Aboriginal Art Directory websites, we have over 15,000 browsers a month visiting our sites, viewing over 40,000 pages. That’s over 500 visitors per day.

And as the Directory is in the top 10 search results for google for ‘aboriginal art’ and in the top 5 for many other common search phases this investment provides your business with this high traffic and exposure.

We are experts in search optimisation, so this will bring traffic to our site, but we are also experts at moving people through a website. We have many features throughout the site that encourage browsers to discover new talent and new sources for art – such as the artist slideshow area.

So by including your artwork on our site, you are increasing the chances of this traffic to see your artworks and enquiry about your art.

Q: How can I maximise the value out of my investment into the Directory?

1. Tell people about it! Use this url to let other people know about your presence online, for example you can link to the gallery from your website or include it in your email newsletters.

2. Share your news! Provide us with any exhibitions, events or press releases about your gallery, your events or your artists. We can then include this as news items on the www.aboriginalartnews.com.au website.

3. Promote your most sought after artwork! Use the most striking artwork images, from your most popular artists. We need browsers to fall in love with the artwork, so select your best!

Q: How do people find the Aboriginal Art Directory, and then my listing on the directory and gallery site?

Each day people reach the Aboriginal Art DIrectory by searching one of 400 different search phrases, and up to 8,000 different search phrases each month. Most websites could only dream of this diverse range of searches, but we are set up to capture each one due to the nature of the directory.

Once on the site, we have designed the site to increase the browsers interest and time spent on the site, so they can use not only the directory to answer their search query, but also to discover new art.

Q: Will these artworks be mailed to the Aboriginal Art Directory database?

Our subscribers have the option to sign up to receive an email when a new artwork by a particular artist is added to the site. So this group will receive an email every time a new artwork is uploaded.

This is a feature you can let your database know about, and effectively you can manage your email communications with a wider audience through this service. Additionally, you can buy an ArtDirect eBlast if you want to communicate with our complete database for just $299+GST.

Q: How do I manage my email list via AAD?

You don’t have to do anything, just recommend people sign up and add artworks. Our system does everything else.

Q: Can I delete old paintings from my account, and replace them?

We do not recommend deleting artworks but you can delete them at any time.

Q: Why not? If I don’t have them for sale anymore, shouldn’t I delete them?

The more images that you have on the gallery, the more chances people have of finding you, your artists or your gallery. Remember keeping old images costs you nothing, and if they bring 10 people to your gallery through the Aboriginal Art Directory each year they will be worth it.

We optimise all of our pages so that people can find us easily, so even your old artworks have value!

Q: Will these images be deleted from the site at some point in time?

These artworks will be deleted when you choose to delete them only. Old artworks can be very valuable for users and we do not recommend this practice.
